The type of players on our squad consists of career-driven women, mothers and students. These women volunteer their time, talents and skills both on and off the field. Some of our previous players have included women from the WNBA.
Every year, we have two tryouts held in the fall; one in September, and the other in October. After tryouts, rookie camp begins from October to January.
Prior to and for the duration of the season, our team trains twice a week. There are a total of 8 games; 4 home and 4 away. However, the number of games could possibly increase during the season based on playoffs and championship games.
The team initially started in 2009 with only a few interested players, but today is composed of 32 players. Our sports club competes in the WFA, and plays along the likes of domineering teams including the Chicago Force and Boston Militia.
Our objective is to promote women’s health initiatives, support sisterhood, stay actively engaged in our communities, and create a family, filled atmosphere on game days. We want to inspire young girls that they can do anything they set their mind to; even if the odds are against them. Football is not only a “guy” sport, but we’re in it for the game too.
Our mission is to improve, conserve and sustain the integrity of women’s sports, while developing character, earning respect and cultivating personal growth.
Our motto is to Empower the Community One Yard At a Time.
We play beyond the field and make a difference in our communities every time we get the chance. The players are our core team. We educate, model and exercise sports to highlight women who go beyond the field.
The official schedule will be available March 2017.
